As a non-binary gender fluid person moving from the USA to NI, Alex’s story offers unique insights into the world of LGBTQI+ faith in Northern Ireland. Alex grew up in rural Colorado and after a migration to the east coast of the US, zee moved to Northern Ireland. Zen’s move here coincided with a regression on rights and freedoms for the LGBTQI+ community, especially the trans community, in the United States as a whole.

Moving to Northern Ireland was a welcome change from the US departure on advancing trans rights as a country. Alex feels extremely fortunate to live in a place that assures zen’s rights as a non-binary gender-fluid female. Zee enjoys exploring the UK and Ireland with zen’s partner and feels blessed to have a truly welcoming church to worship in as a lesbian couple.
